birds

It's very brisk outside
That's the funny thing about Illinois winters
It's like they don't really begin until January
And since January 1 on it's been very cold
Today's temp 24
We have a pond behind the house
There are about 300 geese on it right now
And it appears to be frozen in most places
I saw two or three of them walking across the ice
I guess these guys missed the memo about flying south
Birds don't hibernate as far as I know
So I imagine that it is a difficult time
If the water's frozen I'm sure the ground is
That means little to no insects available
The grass is all brown
The circumstances seem less than desirable
But it's a large group so if there's a way
I'm sure they'll find it
I tried to get a picture but the screen door is frozen shut
But it's a beautiful scene
It reminds me of life
When we are difficult or barren times
How do we handle it?
Do we flee in an attempt to find better results?
Do we stick it out?
Do we surround ourselves with like minded people?
Do we panic or praise?
Are we prayerful or resentful?
Sometimes the situations that seem like mistakes are actually part of His plan
There are seasons spiritually and naturally so winter will come and go
I plan to cling to His word in every season
