small step: devour the WORD daily

Romans 4

v.7 blessed is the man whose lawless deeds are forgiven and whose sins are covered!

I am blessed beyond measure! My sins are covered! This verse puts things in perspective in a whole new way for me. It's true that sometimes you have to hear something multiple times or presented in various ways for it to resonate. I know I am forgiven that is not a question but the phrasing "sins are covered" does something for me. I can visualize the blood covering over even the most heinous things and when the blood settles these once terrible things are unrecognizable. They can no longer be connected to me. And even when I think upon the things I've done i focus more on God's grace and mercy than on my actions.

v. 20-22 he did not waiver at the promise of God in unbelief but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform. And therefore it was accounted to him as righteousness.

Abraham seemed to have it all figured out and he had less tangible resources than we do now. He didn't have the Bible, the temple, and not even the 10 commandments. He just had what we all really need to focus on a dynamic relationship with God. Abraham had a YES in his spirit. God promised Abraham great things and they came to pass. Abraham had some trials but they look trivial in comparison to what God did in his life. God has promised me great thins and I believe. But unlike Abraham I'm not always ready with a yes. Abraham had to leaves his comfort zone (family, friends, and the "known") to get to the promised land (God's perfect plan and the "unknown").

Why is the unknown so scary? we know that God will never lead us astray. He know He'll never leave us nor forsake us. We know He has a future and a hope for us. We know God thought about us in our mother's womb. And the unknown is only unknown to us. God knows it all. So when I feel uncomfortable and challenged I'm going to give myself a spiritual pep talk. I'll praise God for what He's already done, where He's taking me, and the truth of His word!
